Access to justice and courts

# Serve the people you have to turn away. Briefcase gives them a legal foundation of their own.

Legal aid, nonprofits, advocates, and courts serve more people with Briefcase. The people a partner cannot take on keep a private, grounded path. Courts pilot it for better-prepared filings by self-represented litigants and a clearer process.

Legal aid and nonprofit partners

## Serve the people you have to turn away.

The constraint is not commitment. It is capacity.

[Design a capacity partnership.](https://nextbriefcase.com/partners#partnership)

The problem

Legal-aid and nonprofit partners face far more eligible need than staff can serve. The person turned away leaves with a list.

What Briefcase does

The organization uses a team account with legal-work controls. A person builds their record through guided intake; Briefcase organizes the potential claims or issues, governing factors, evidence, actors, jurisdiction, deadlines, goals, and open questions. When the intake record is complete enough for professional review, it appears in the organization's authorized attorney queue. People the partner cannot represent keep a private, grounded path. If a person instead chooses a limited-scope engagement, the professional they choose works in a scoped, private space linked to the record. Sponsored access and reporting run on the same system.

Is this technology replacing lawyers or adding risk?

Briefcase prepares people so a lawyer's time goes to the judgment only a lawyer can give. The person controls the matter. Advice remains with an authorized professional. The platform enforces its security, privacy, and role boundaries throughout the work. Institutions fund access. People keep the record.

Advocates and community navigators

## Give the person a private place to understand the problem, prepare, and choose what happens next.

An advocate needs a clear path to offer when their role ends. The person controls it.

[Add Briefcase to the trusted resource path.](https://nextbriefcase.com/partners#partnership)

The problem

The advocate must stay within the authority of their role and cannot guarantee representation. A resource sheet rarely carries the person from urgency to action.

What Briefcase does

The advocate shares a referral, not client data. The person opens and controls a private record. The advocate needs no account, no payment, and nothing to administer.

Does a referral change my scope or put client data somewhere it cannot go?

The referral does not ask the advocate to interpret or vouch for legal output. The person, not the organization, owns the private matter in this path.

Courts and jurisdictions

## Better-prepared filings. Clearer process. Every material claim faces a verification gate before submission.

Everyone deserves a fair shot in court. Deployed through the court, loyal to the litigant, paid by neither.

[Explore a measured, neutral pilot.](https://nextbriefcase.com/partners#partnership)

The problem

People representing themselves reach the court with incomplete filings, missed deadlines, avoidable defaults, and unsupported claims. Clerks, self-help staff, and judges absorb the cost.

What Briefcase does

Briefcase prepares the people who represent themselves: complete filings, deadlines met, and every material claim checked before submission. It gives the person grounded information, circumstance-specific option analysis, contextual education, and preparation, and the person chooses the path. The pilot defines scope, neutrality, privacy, measurement, and evaluation before it begins. The court does not recommend Briefcase, pay for placement, or see individual matters.

Does participating compromise neutrality or imply endorsement?

No payment moves in either direction. Participation is not an endorsement. Evaluation is independent. Every claimed system effect remains a pilot aim until measured.

The record

## Capacity for partners. Preparation for courts.

Legal aid, nonprofits, and advocates serve more of the people who come to them, and the people they have to turn away keep a private, grounded path. Courts see better-prepared filings from self-represented litigants and a clearer process, without endorsing or buying a private product. Access to justice widens where the system has the least to give.

> The idealized picture of an adversarial system in which both parties are represented by competent attorneys who can assert all legitimate claims and defenses is an illusion.

Questions

## What partners ask first.

[Every question and answer](https://nextbriefcase.com/faq)

### Is Briefcase a law firm?

Briefcase is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Briefcase provides legal information, organization, and tools. Legal advice comes from a licensed attorney in an attorney-client relationship.

### How does Briefcase make money?

From technology. The professional sets the price. Briefcase earns a flat technology fee on completed marketplace engagements, never a share of the legal fee. That fee is waived for attorneys with a subscribed professional workspace. Software handles preparation. The person buys professional judgment for the scope they choose.
